Since 2018, IPPOSI has been ‘matchmaking’ patients with opportunities to get more ‘involved’ in health service improvement, health policy development, health research and health innovation in Ireland.
IPPOSI receives regular requests from industry, academia, state agencies and other health-focused organisations to identify individuals for public and patient ‘involvement opportunities’. These opportunities pass through an internal review process within IPPOSI to check for coherence, suitability, and person-centeredness. We give particular attention to the definition of the role, the mentorship and supports available, and the remuneration provided to individuals for their time and expertise. IPPOSI then seeks expressions of interest from its patient community, and shares the details of those interested in getting involved with those providing the involvement opportunity. This has resulted in patients engaging with a range of activities including research projects; expert panels; board memberships; events (panels, conferences, workshops, meetings) in Ireland and abroad.
A complete list of the examples of matchmaking opportunities is available on the Irish ENP page https://www.ipposi.ie/our-work/international-projects/eupati/eupati-national-platform-ireland/
