The School of Allied Health at the University of Limerick established an Aphasis Public and Patient Involvement Advisory Group in 2017 comprising of four patient representatives with experience of the condition. The Advisory Group helped to design a qualitative study to explore the perspectives of working-aged adults with post-stroke aphasis around the topic of living well. The Group have also co-produced and tested strategies and techniques for supporting people with aphasis.
The patient representatives were selected from nominations provided by the patient organisation relevant to this condition. The representatives were provided with a description of the role.
