The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) involved public and/or patient (PPI) representatives in the development of its recommendations for the implementation of a electronic patient summary record in Ireland in order to gain a greater understanding of the public and patient opinions on patient summaries and to incorporate these views into its recommendations for implementation.
