The Irish Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ISGO) Public and Patient Involvement Group was established in 2016 to build a partnership between the society (clinicians, nurses, scientists) and patients and members of the public. The public and patient involvement (PPI) members have co-authored a publication on patient-doctor communication, co-designed an all-Ireland research study, contributed to National Committees involved in clinical guideline development, and represented Irish patients at the European Society for Gynaecological Oncology. The ISGO PPI Group launched an annual Laura Brennan Award for patient advocacy in 2018 to honour the work of inspiring patient advocates. The PPI Group meets three or four times a year.

The PPI Group membership is open to all with an interest in gynaecological cancers. The PPI Group works to agreed terms of reference.
