In 2019, the Irish Cancer Society invited public and/or patient (PPI) representatives to get involved in its grant review process. Representatives are asked to review sections of grant applications that have been submitted to the Irish Cancer Society by researchers. The PPI representatives also participate on interview panels to review grant applications. Their recommendations are given strong consideration by the Society in awarding grants to applicants.
