The Roscommon University Hospital (RUH) Patient Council comprises of between 7 and 10 representatives. The Council meets with hospital management every two months. Patient Council representatives are appointed following a public advertisement process.
Patient Council representatives contribute to a variety of projects and policies. For example, in response to feedback from a 2018 National Patient Experience Survey, Roscommon University Hospital introduced a number of new initiatives to enhance the patients’ experience at the hospital. These initiatives included a new 27-page Patient Information Booklet, a Patient Folder, and a Patient Comfort Pack – all the documents were developed in collaboration with the Roscommon University Hospital Patient Council with input from patients and staff.
