The Slaintecare Implementation Advisory Council was established in October 2018 to provide advice and support to the Sláintecare Programme Office on the delivery of the Sláintecare Implementation Strategy. The Council meets quarterly.

The Slaintecare Implementation Advisory Council comprises of 23 members from a range of backgrounds, including four public and/or patient representatives (two patient organisation representatives and two patient advocates). The PPI representatives were appointed by the Minister for Health. The Council members have been appointed for a period of three years. The Council members work to agreed terms of reference.
