The Patient Voice in Cancer Research (PVCR) is an initiative to actively engage cancer patients, cancer researchers and other interested parties (patient advocates, families, carers, healthcare professionals, policy-makers and those with an interest in cancer research) in discussions and decision making processes, which positively impact on cancer research and outcomes for patients. In 2020, the Patient Voice in Cancer Research initiative helped 13 research groups work with public and/or patient representatives to shape their research proposals and communications.

The patient representatives involved in the Patient Voice in Cancer Research (PVCR) initiatives are selected from the PVCR professional network and from nominations provided by various cancer patient organisations. The representatives are provided with a description of their role, where possible.
